School-Based Health Programs

A  partnership  between  Citrus Health Network, The  Children’s Trust, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the Miami-Dade County Health Department allows Citrus School Health Teams to provide basic health services to students in  19 Miami-Dade  County  Public  Schools.  Those  services  include  first  aid,  health  education, grade and age appropriate screenings, medication administration, behavioral and psychosocial assessments, counseling, and referrals to primary and behavioral health services.

Citrus Health Network also partnered with Thriving Minds South Florida and Miami-Dade County Public Schools to offer the Healthy Me Program.  Healthy Me is a substance use prevention education program that builds resiliency skills to promote positive mental and physical health to youth in grades kindergarten through 6th.  Services include groups that focus on prevention education, mental health  promotion,  bullying prevention and healthy habits. Parenting workshops, problem identification and referral services and capacity building in the community are also offered. Youth identified through the Healthy Me Program as having a mental health disorder are eligible for the Healthy Me Intervention Program which offers clinical intervention services.
